Hi folks,

This Wednesday, 7/15/98, is the last day for early-bird registration at the
Visitor Studies Conference. More details below:

The Visitor Studies Associationís annual conference in Washington, DC,
promises to be a capital experience. The local wealth of talent in professions
committed to providing the best possible experience for visitors in a wide
variety of settings from galleries and museums to science centers and zoos
will only enhance the eclectic program.

Topics include evaluation studies, visitor learning, a Museum Education
Roundtable Research Colloquium, attracting new audiences and much more.
Keynote speeches will be given by Stephen Weil, Center for Museum Studies,
and Robert Sullivan from the Smithsonian Institution.

Some lighthearted activities will include the April Award Fundraiser luncheon
featuring Florence Bramley-Hill, an expert on humor, a reception and tour of
the Smithsonianís art museums nearest the Castle, and a reception and walking
tour of four historic sites in Old Town Alexandria, VA.

The conference will be held August 6-8, with two days of workshops
preceding (August 4&5) and will be headquartered in the ANA Hotel, near
Georgetown. For more information check out the VSA web site,
