Muscarelle Museum of Art
The College of William & Mary



Curator of Education

The Curator of Education is responsible for the planning, developing,
managing and representing the Muscarelle Museum's education programs.
Duties include providing academic support for College courses, development
of projects for area elementary and secondary schools, special programs for
interest groups and for the general public.  The Curator of Education
creates, initiates, supervises, administers, and evaluates the
interpretation of the collections and special exhibitions and oversees the
docent program, interns, and paid, and volunteer staff who assist with
these programs.  The Curator of Education also functions as the Museum's
public information officer and reports to the Director of the Museum.

This is a full time Commonwealth of Virginia Classified position with full
benefits and competitive salary. Minimum requirements: a Bachelor's degree
in art education, art history or related field.  Previous experience in
museum education, demonstrated writing and communication skills and
proficiency in standard computer software programs. Preferred
qualifications: Masters degree in Museum education, art history or related
field, desktop publishing familiarity and multimedia/advanced interactive
computer technology experience.
