Museum's Australia and in particular, Arts Victoria, the Victorian State
Government body responsible for Museum's Galleries, etc, has been running a
museum accreditation program (MAP) for some time now. much of what they do
is to write down the logical methods, proceedures and ethics, which as
museum professionals we probably all take for granted. The accredditation
process then acts as a formal test of how professionals and institutions
stand up and as a quality measure (I daren't use the jargon but "world's
best practice" does come to mind).
