DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

The Mitchell Museum at Cedarhurst invites applications for the position
of Director of Education.  The Director will be responsible for planning
and managing all educational programs of the organization.
Responsibilities include:  determine short and long-term educational
programming needs; develop suitable programs, activities and collateral
materials to complement the exhibitions and permanent collection;
cultivate strong relationships with area teachers, administrators and
other constituencies; submit annual plan and budget; negotiate for and
present school performing arts programs; provide leadership and
direction for staff, volunteers and advisory board of Cedarhurst Art
Center; provide leadership for docent and education committees;
coordinate the selection and installation of exhibitions for the
children's gallery; and assist with grant proposals.

The successful candidate will possess a high energy level, strong
communications skills both written and oral, and negotiation and
organizational skills.

The qualified candidate will have an art history background and a
minimum of three years in museum and classroom experience, and
expreience in both program development and community outreach.

Qualifications:  B.A. or B.S. essential, M.A. preferred.  Salary
commensurate with qualifications.  Position reports to Executive
Director.
