Caroline,

The new museum I work for is quite technology-reliant. The majority of
our exhibits feature some type of audiovisual component, ranging from
slide shows to large-screen projections of videos produced for the
exhibits to pepper's ghosts. We also have a computer game that was
designed for us that provides a fun way to learn about the legislative
process. There is an interactive map that shows patterns of settlement,
transportation, geology, etc. A master control system takes care of
turning the system off and on and sends lighting cues as well. We also
use an audio guide system produced by Antenna.

I definitely have noticed that visitors are drawn to the multimedia
exhibits, spend more time in them than they do in the more static,
traditional exhibits, and come out of the museum expressing how
impressed they were with the overall experience.

I'd be happy to discuss any of our exhibits in greater detail with you,
and to share the names of the various people we worked with in
developing them. (Since you're in Australia, though, I should warn you
that we worked with mostly California producers.)
