I am looking for examples of private museum collection access policies
which provide guidance on requests from the media for information about
specific objects from archaeological sites.

We recently received a request from a freelance journalist for detailed
information about a collection of objects in our archaeology collection.
He is writing an article on a large archaeological site and would like a
complete list of artifacts from that site which are curated in our
collection. Our access policy doesn't specifically address this type of
request. It basically says that a person has to be affiliated with an
educational institution and have a research related reason for examining
artifacts.

Does anyone have a policy and/or procedures for dealing with
this type of request for information/access?

Thank you,
