You should look at Judy Diamond's research about the Exploratorium's
Explainers,

Diamond, St. John, Cleary, Librero, "The Exploritorium's Explainer Program:
The Long Term Impacts on Teenagers of Teaching Science to the Public."
Science Education 71, no 5 (1987): 643-56

Also look for the report from the New York Hall of Science, they tracked
down their former student staff interpreters after many years and surveyed
them as to what they did after working for them. Some very interesting
results, but I don't have the reference.

" I'm doing a research paper on teen volunteers in three different
museums: an art gallery, a science museum and art/archaeology/natural
history museum. I'm looking at doing a qualitative study. I've already
started on interviews and round table discussions with a sample of teens
from each museum. Does anyone have any resources pertaining to:
        youth voluntarism.
        youth voluntarism in museums
qualitative or quantitative, it doesn't matter.

        Thanks."
