That is definitely an interesting predicament that many museums face. I guess
achieving a balance between what the visitors may wish to see versus what the
mission and scope of the museum is must be pursued without making anyone
angry. I was just curious about the AHS's mission and scope; are there any
problems that you have faced (or any others on this discussion list) regarding
what people wanted to see conflicting with what your museum is supposed to
present? I understand that museums do what they must in order to survive, but
how far does that go? I have seen many situations that cause a schism in
museum management and supporters surrounding this issue. I'd like to hear
some other opinions as well.
Thanks,
