Jeff Northam of Pouncing Pachyderm Productions asks, re Dr Drum's recent e-mail:

<<Isn't this becoming a little too frequent and an excessive amount of
blatant advertising?>>

In my view Dr Drum fulfils a very useful function by drawing attention to a fascinating selection of museum-related books via his web pages. Moreover the implication that he is sending a superfluity of messages to the list is not really borne out by the facts.

Most list members, myself included, "advertise" something, albeit indirectly, each time they contribute to the list. For example, by putting a URL below my e-mail address, I am advertising that site to the list. Likewise Jeff Norton, while taking Dr Drum to task, is also broadcasting, perhaps unwittingly, that Pouncing Pachyderm Production has a capability for Exhibition Design and Fabrication. Dr Drum, Jeff Norton and I are each in our own way all operating within the norms for good netiquette. Or have I got it wrong?

Isn't this becoming a little too frequent and an excessive amount of
blatant advertising?
