We recently went through the process of choosing a new computer based
accessions program.  There are a number of considerations which must
be taken into account when make this sort of decision.  Perhaps the
best place to start is the CHIN web-site.  Not only do they have an
excellent article which discusses the ins and outs of choosing an
accessions program, but they also have a review of a number of
different software systems.  Your institution should start there.
