mention.

Have you ever read "Art In the Age of Mechanical
Reproduction" by Walter Benjamin?  He explores the
exhibition value vs. "cult" value (like souvenirs,
etc.) of art.  I can't remember all the details as I
read it in grad school, but if you haven't already
read it it might be of interest.
