Do you have experience of any well-established and tested membership
management software systems -from either commercial or non-profit sources?
(As we do not have on-site I.T. staff probably need a low-maintenance
established system, not something specially written even if it is based on
a standard PC database package.)

At the International Council of Museums (ICOM) we will are having to
replace a 15+ year old system on the UNESCO mainframe with a stand-alone
PC based (Windows 95) package to manage our membership and mailing list.

The mainframe system to be replaced currently covers around 17,500+
individuals plus around 200 constituent committees and affiliated bodies,
but we are looking for a system with a theoretical capacity of at least
50,000 individual entries.

A rough indication of the essential functions include: the effective,
stable, and speedy management of mailing and other contact (phone, fax
e-mail etc.) lists, management of annual subscription payments Including
overdues), specialist group affiliations, and a very flexible retrieval
system for report writing, export into standard word processing
packages (currently MS Word), mailing list label writing, statistical
analysis etc.

Information or suggestions (on a no liability basis, of course!) about
packages that are already up and running and which might meet our needs
would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact me off list: [log in to unmask] or by mail as below.

Many thanks for your interest.
