                   DIRECTOR OF INTERPRETATION

Museum Division of State Historical Society of Wisconsin seeks experienced,
professional exhibits designer to manage its exhibits and education programs.
The
Museum: offers 24,000 sf. of permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits; its
education program provides tours, public programming, and volunteer services;
and
has an annual attendance of 100,000 to 125,000.  Responsibilities include:
conceptualization, design, fabrication, and installation of interpretive
exhibits; project
management and supervision; multimedia development and maintenance; and
educational programming.  The ideal candidate will have: extensive interpretive
museum design experience and training, a substantial background in project
management, and significant knowledge of museum interpretation and education.
Salary range: high $30s to low $40s, depending upon qualifications.  Excellent
benefits.  The Society functions under an aggressive affirmative action program
and
minority candidates are encouraged to apply.  Apply with a resume and letter of
interest.  Be sure to describe in detail: 1) Academic training in exhibit
design,
museum studies, or related field; 2) interpretive exhibit design experience
(include
size, topic, and nature of exhibits); 3) leadership experience with exhibit
