Assistant Coordinator
Technical Information Service(TIS), Department of Accreditation and
Museum Standards, American Association of Museums

TIS assists museums in improving their operations, publishes the
Professional Practice Series and provides information on museum
standards and best practices.
This is a key professional position which manages the inquiry response
program (the National Museum Inquiry Database), reports on trends,
fulfills requests for information and interacts with a wide variety of
museums nationwide.
The incumbent reviews and compares a high volume of museum documents and
processes exemplary examples for sharing with the profession and to
maintain the currency of AAM's information files for museums.
This position is also responsible for: managing the Professional
Practice Series reprint program; assisting in research, design and
layout of new manuals and books in the series; producing original Series
publications, source lists, reading lists, brochures, bi-annual catalog,
marketing flyers and other publications.
The Assistant Coordinator joins an exciting team in Accreditation and
Museum Standards that is working with the museum profession to provide
museums the best and most current information about operations and
policy.
Qualified candidate must be have an interest and experience in museums.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, analytic and
organizational skills as well as knowledge of database management
(Access), MS Word and desktop publishing. Requires a BA and 3-5 years
museum experience as well as a thorough understanding of current museum
issues and trends, enthusiasm for museums, customer service and the
practice of confidentiality.  MA may substitute for one year of
