Not exactly a hoax but more along the lines of the Jurassic Technology
Museum, or a museum as installation art, is the Wonders of the World Museum
in Port Costa, CA. This was developed in the late 1970s by ceramic artist
Clayton Bailey, under the pseudonym of Professor Gladstone, who created
marvelous fossil finds for his museum, even going so far as to stage mock
archaeological digs to dicover them, and producing tabloid style newspapers
to herald them.
