Hello everybody,
as the Radio Free Europe announced yesterday Mr. Ivan Hudec the minister
of culture, member of prime minister Meciar's cabinet is forcing the
director of the Slovak National Museum, dr. Maraky, to agree to make
over the store-room for musical instruments collection placed in the
village Dolna Krupa, cca 90 km from Bratislava, to another body which is
(so they say) part of private company owned by minister's brother. The
collection is life-long work of dr. Ivan Macak, former director of the
Musical Museum of the Slovak National Museum and well-known specialist.
I would like to emphasize that in Slovakia there is no other store room
available which would answer the demands of a safe, conditioned storage
of the collection. What is really strange and curious, a huge part of
the collection is a collection of Slovak folk music instruments, which
is irreplaceable and unique. No other collection compares to it in
Slovakia.
I would like to ask you to write to the minister in order to support
Slovak National Museum's efforts to change his decesion. The e-mail
address of the Slovak ministry of culture is
