Business Manager, Noyce Center for Learning

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

Join a dynamic, creative team operating one of the nation’s premiere
science and technology museums. Help design, implement, and evaluate The
Tech Museum of Innovation's new Robert N. Noyce Center for Learning
scheduled for opening in 1998, in the heart of Silicon Valley. As a key
member of the Noyce Center team, you will have an opportunity to lay
foundation processes that will fundamentally improve how schools, teachers,
and students perform in Silicon Valley.

The Noyce Center will serve as a regional hub of continuous learning,
exploration, process improvement, and practices for teachers and school
administrators. The Center will draw upon The Tech’s exhibition and public
programs, the extensive resources of local industry, academic and education
partners, and exemplary national programs to make Silicon Valley schools
the best in the nation. A focus will be placed on the teaching of science,
on the use of technology in the learning process, and in the measurement of
student and teacher performance.

The Business Manager is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the
Executive Director of the Robert N. Noyce Center for Learning, and is
responsible for working as part of a highly motivated team to construct and
help implement the Center’s vision, mission, strategy and tactics.

Responsibilities:
•Work with the Executive Director to develop the Center’s initial mission,
vision, strategy, and tactics.
•Work with Center personnel to design, develop, and execute business plans.
•Establish project management systems, schedule and track projects.
•Assist the Executive Director with budget development and management.
•Co-design, implement, and participate in teacher professional development
events, research meetings, and advisory meetings.
•Track funding opportunities and coordinate grant writing efforts.
•Other duties as assigned.
•Work as Museum Manager or assistant manager on assigned weekend days or
holidays.

Requirements:
•University degree that emphasizes education and technology.
•Experience in a startup environment.
•Minimum 5 years experience in education projects that actively involved
teachers and other school district personnel.
•Minimum 2 years project management experience with excellent
organizational skills.
•Proven ability to manage a number of projects under pressure and meet
deadlines.
•Experience with budget management and database systems on both Macintosh
and Windows.
•Highly developed technology skills with demonstrated Web site development
and management experience.
•Experience coordinating successful grant writing efforts and education
evaluation programs.
•Ability to work as a team member or independently on day-to-day tasks,
special assignments, and projects.
