EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. The Lehigh County Historical Society--one of the
largest in Pennsylvania with 9 historic sites and a library/archive--
seeks an executive director to administer the operations of the historical
society. The executive director reports to a 27-member board of
directors, manages a budget of $750,000, and supervises a staff of 9.
Candidate should be fluent in professional standards for collections,
exhibits, education, and building preservation; have experience in
membership development and managing a capital campaign; as well as a
strong, working knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management. Successful
candidate should be a self-starter who will lead the institution to the
next level, which may include a new home; possess the ability to develop
strategic direction through consensus; and be able to create an
atmosphere in which professional staff can prosper. Salary range
$45,000-$60,000, depending on qualifications. MA in history or related
field and 5-10 years substantive administrative experience in a museum
or other similar institution. Previous experience in an historical
