As Janice points out, the accession book is a visible tool which can
quickly alert you to any changes made.  I wouldn't be in favor of letting
go of it, especially as computerized catalog records are easily changed.
This is not to say that computerized records are a bad thing, since as
you input changes the old ones remain; but a hard copy of the accession
book should still remain part of the collection management landscape.
