Here in Montana, we have seven Indian Reservations. Some have great
museums, others don't. I would recommend contacting the tribal
council. Call them.

You didn't say whether you are interested in a specific region of the US
or not. The highest profile cultural centers/museums in Montana are
located on the Flathead Indian Reservation - one tribal
(Salish-Kootenai), and one privately owned (Doug Allard) - and the
Blackfeet Reservation. [There is another good one, but I can't remember
where it is at the moment.]

Give *plenty* of time to get a response. Don't forget to ask them about
their pow wows.

State tourism bureaus also may have some good leads for you. Montana
publishes a small brochure that promotes the reservations, their
museums, reenactments ("Custer's Last Stand"), etc.

Washington state has places worth contacting too.

I can find lots of local info for you if I knew more specifics about
your search.
