A group of fundraising counsels issues a report every year called "Giving
USA."  I don't have the latest one at my fingertips but I seem to recall
that the total annual value of philanthropy in the USA -- in terms of
money and property donated, I'm pretty sure, not including volunteer
services -- is around $125 billion.

If I get a more precise figure I'll post it, with a more exact reference too.
