One of the best sources for the type of information you are looking for
can be found with Nancy Fuller at the Museum Studies Office (or whatever
their current title is) at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington,
DC. Her office was in the Arts and Industries Building, but may have
moved since I was last there. The American Association of Museums also
has a standing committee on museum studies programs and professional
development that could be a useful source.
Good luck!
