THE TECH MUSEUM OF INNOVATION
FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
Graphic Designer

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Graphic Designer is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to
the Identity & Graphics Manager.  The position has responsibility for the
execution of visual and physical representation of the museum's
represention of copy, text and image for the museum's marketing and exhibit
collateral, signage and other print needs, and for supporting the graphic
needs of other departments on a client basis. The Graphic Designer develops
2-dimensional and sometimes 3-dimensional graphics and visual elements;
coordinates production, and execution; and ensures the museum's mission,
values and corporate identity are accurately presented and aesthetically
pleasing.

Responsibilities:
* Under the direction of the Identity & Graphics Manager, develop the
design, typography, graphics and  signage for assigned projects originating
from or through the Marketing Department, including graphic projects for
other departments in the museum.
* Coordinate the production of assigned publications, flyers and other
print collateral, exhibit graphics and signage; and work with editors,
writers, and other contract personnel and staff working on such
productions.
* Conduct and maintain bidding process for the most cost effective and
efficient production of print, graphic, exhibit signage and publications
for The Tech.
* Develop contacts and work relationships with vendors, printers, and other
suppliers.
* Design promotional and other collateral and related materials as needed
and manage the production of those  materials to meet project deadlines and
budget requirements.
* Work as a team member in close collaboration with the Marketing
Department and other members of the museum staff on projects as assigned.
* Incorporate evaluation process into assignments to measure effectiveness
of graphic design projects in meeting objectives of collateral and other
exhibit and program signage.
* Work as Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned weekend
days and holidays.

Requirements:
* Degree in graphic design
* Museum graphic design experience desirable
* Strong skills and experience in developing graphic and visual
representations of conceptual ideas
* Ability to produce graphic materials
* Strong computer skills in graphic and illustration programs
* Strong illustration and drawing skills
* Excellent communications skills
*Team player, self-motivated, and goal oriented
