Art critic Donald Kuspit has posted his very negative review of Documenta X
in Kassel online:

And Jordan Crandall, an artist participating in Documenta X, has posted a
response:
http://www.documenta.de/lists/blast/0339.html
The term "virtual" is often taken to mean some form of reproduction but it
also means potentiality and I think that is where museums are most likely
to find a use for it. Museums are multidimensional with a great deal of
potential beyond the reproduction of the objects it contains in digital
form. I think Crandall makes this point when he says Kuspit didn't see a
third of the exhibition because he wasn't looking for it, because it was
"virtual".
Catherine David, the director of Documenta X (and a museum professional),
has used the exhibition to start a productive debate about how museums and
other institutions could use digital technology and, even more important,
what impact thinking "digital" rather than "analog" may have globally.
