     It seems to me that the proposition that because
     athletes get paid big $, Museum folk ought to emulate
     their tactics to get higher wages is silly.  SOME
     athletes get paid big $, but there are thousands more
     in the "minors" or other lesser levels of many sports
     who get paid very little.  I suppose there are some
     "superstar" museum folk who get paid big $, too.  If we
     really want to emulate another profession, we should
     figure out which ones consistently get paid big $ at
     ALL levels - doctors?  lawyers?  certainly not
     educators.  We need to be perceived as vital, not as
     superstars.
