Sometimes the rhythms themselves may actually add to burnout--it all gets so
predictable that only the names change.  Pretty soon one can stop caring.  I
have seen this happen in very high-customer-contact situations--the solution
seems to be to have several people able to do the same set of jobs and
rotate them to keep the burnout level low.
