It is with great sadness that ICOM New Zealand records the death today of
Professor Keith Thomson.

Keith, who passed away earlier this morning, was instrumental in building the
membership of ICOM New Zealand national committee over many years and served
as both chairman and more latterly, secretary.

A man of charm and vision, he ably represented his country at museum
conferences worldwide, was the driving force behind the establishment of the
Museum Studies course at Massey University, and played an active role in the
Commonwealth Museums Association.

His colleagues and friends pay tribute to his passion and belief in the value
of Museums and the proper training of museum personnel. As both a mentor and a
friend, he will be sadly missed.

Roger Smith
Chairman of ICOM New Zealand
