Just a few moments ago this proposal too was voted down so for the first
time in a third of a century the Interior bill will leave the House with
NO funding designated for the arts.

At this moment the House is considering an amendment offered by Steve
Chabot to end the NEH citing the nation's "culture beaurocrats" and "elete
academics".

Also if you feel the block grant proposal was seriously offered consider
this, it would have moved to the jurisdiction of the Education Committee
with administration through The Dept of Education BUT...... those who had
pledged to end the NEA also pledged to end The Department of Education.
Nothing like sending a grant to a program you plan to dissolve to show
support for something!
