Hi everyone - now that summer is winding down, we've had a number of
last-minute enquiries about fall professional development courses
offered through the Cultural Resource Management Program at the
University of Victoria, both on campus and in the distance format. Here
is a posting of those that are starting in the near future that still
have a few spaces available. Please let us know as quickly as possible
if you'd like to participate so that we can provide you with further
information and registration materials.

ON CAMPUS

MUSEUMS IN THE MARKETPLACE: PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETING
To be successful in the crowded 'edu'tainment marketplace, museums need
strong marketing and public relations strategies that are grounded in a

that are vital to effective communication with your target audiences.

o relate institutional mission and goals to community needs
o define your current and potential audiences
o build staff commitment to positive public relations
o create effective public relations, communications and marketing
strategies
o develop effective public relations tools to convey institutional and
program
messages
o design publications to communicate and reinforce your image and
programs
o work with media
o balance marketing with development activity
o work with sponsors
o manage crisis
