-- [ From: Janet Reinhold * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] --
I was hoping to hear from the Museum Community as to funding sources for
small, volunteer museums who have no funds at all. I have just become
active in our local museum, all volunteer, and it is in dire need of
environmental assistance. We live in a very hot climate which has been
quite humid recently, in Southern California. Our museum has no
plumbing, and it has no air conditioning! The collection is simply
burning up, and the conditions are very poor for the docents, let alone
visitors. We have two facilities, a Firehouse Museum and a Heritage
House. The latter, being a re-located house, has plumbing hooked up but
no air conditioning and neither has heat.
The collections include a great deal of history from the citrus industry
here in So.Calif.
I have sent for and received information on the CAP site assessments
done thru the NIC, and this is fine, I will apply. But its funding
seems to cover the site assessment only. What is the next step,
assuming a survey can be done?
I have also received some information on NEH grants, but they seem to
require matching funds.
I'm sorry to be so un-knowledgeable in these areas, but your comments
are welcomed.
