No one doubts that traditional festivals of feasts are the very subjects of et
hnology. I would like to introduce some websites which are specialized in the
Japanese MATSURI, the traditional festivals held all over Japan during the yea
r.
MATSURI-NO-KUNI (http://www.sto.co.jp/member/sano) is a photographic collectio
n of the Japanese MATSURI managed by a professional photographer in Shizuoka.
NIHON-NO-MATSURI (http://www.matsuri.com/) is also a photographic collection o
f the Japanese MATSURI. A Beauty Contest of beautiful Japanese young women in
Happis can be viewed on this site.
SAWARA (http://www.sawara.com) shows beautiful pix of 24 DASHIs (festival fl
oats) used in SAWARA City's festival. Physical structure of a typical DASHI is
 also introduced on this site.
OSAKA En-nichi (http://www.osakanews.com/en/index.html) run by a local newspap
er in Osaka, introduces the traditional kiosks which can be seen in any Japane
se MATSURI. Those who have installed Shockwaves can try Frog races, Pachinko,
Fishings of Gold fishes, etc.
