MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION, THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE AND/OR
EDUCATION MUST BE A PART OF YOUR BACKGROUND AND MUST APPEAR ON YOUR
APPLICATION:

Bachelor s degree in Business or Public Administration, Art History,
Museum Studies, Anthropology or a related field (Master s strongly
preferred) plus extensive supervisory or administrative management
experience, preferably in a museum setting.  Must have excellent
communication skills and a demonstrated organizational ability.  A
familiarity with accepted museum standards and conservation tools is
desired.

Additional experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year
basis.

NATURE OF WORK

The incumbent will supervise the day to day operations at the
Anchorage Museum of History and Art.  Duties will include supervision
of the curatorial and administrative staff; planning of programs,
exhibits and collection policies; budget planning, preparation and
control; oversight of building maintenance and security; and
coordination with Management Information Systems regarding computer
and telephone systems.
