Assistant Exhibit Developer
Facility Master Plan Exhibit Team - Philippines Coral Reef project
Assists the lead developer in research and interpretive content development. He/she is an integral member of an exhibit team and is involved in researching subject matter, developing interpretive approaches, and producing written documentation and communication for the exhibit.
Conducts primary topic research, including literature research, interviews with subject matter and husbandry experts, and direct observation.
Works with the exhibit team to develop interpretive approaches for implementing the storyline.
With the senior developer, is responsible for written documentation and communication of the exhibit storyline and interpretive elements, including: main messages; story outline; labels, from initial draft to final copy; and other exhibit-related writing as required by Aquarium staff.
Provides appropriate input and assistance to audience evaluation consultant; may carry out some testing.
Locates sources of information, artifacts, specimens, illustrations, photos, film footage, recordings, models and other related materials, and secures rights for their use. Develops and maintains files of all relevant information, sources and materials. Works with lead developer and exhibit team on other tasks related to the development and implementation of the exhibit plan.
Position Specifications:
Bachelor's degree required; aquatic biology preferred. Must be comfortable with science and science literature. Two years related experience in public programming, interpreting science concepts for a general audience. Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills. Good organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines. Must be able to work in a team environment, be a good listener and communicator, contribute to solutions, have a sense of humor. Must be able to work cooperatively and take direction, but also organize and take initiate on his/her own. Tasks and programmatic areas. Should b dedicated to effective communication of relevant content. Should enjoy talking with visitors and a variety of exhibit advisors.
Salary: low 20s
