Hello all - I am researching mirages for an art project, and I found a
reference in an 1898 issue of English Mechanic and World of Science to a
photographer Robert Symons. The writer claimed Robert Symons was the first
person to photograph a mirage, and that the photo was taken on May 5, 1879.
It sounds from the quote like Symons was some kind of commercial
photographer - has anyone ever heard of him? The photo may have been
published in Photographic News, but I am not sure when. I would love to see
what the image looks like!

Thanks in advance if anyone has any leads!
