I love museums and regularly speak at AAM...BUT I do not think many small
or medium sized museums will be around in the future....

All museums have over the dreaded theme park...is education and
authenticity.   Now theme parks are in to education and "museum-like
experiences"...so that leaves authenticity...among, what in many museums
is perceived as a smug, self-serving group of professionals...will
authenticity be enough?

Our kids are growing up in a digital world for which we have no frame of
reference..will traveling to a museum to be lectured at and see and
"authentic" object drive them in the future?  Who knows...
Certainly current museum professionals cannot imagine a life like
that...but closing their eyes and announcing "how important" museums are
is not the answer...connection with the public is...
