Assistant Museum Librarian

                     The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Photo and Slide Library invites applications for the position of
Assistant Museum Librarian. This position is responsible for acquisition
and classification of Museum slide collections. The librarian functions
include but are not limited to participation in  advance planning of slide
coverage of loan exhibitions; coordinate special photography, and prepare
budget estimates. Position also supervises areas such as Bindery Circulation,
and Reference; supervision of special projects and takes part in orientations
for visiting groups and classes.

Qualifications: M.A. in art history; a firm, broad knowledge of the history of
art is essential; some courses in non Western as well as courses beyond the M.A.
are favorably considered; Reading knowledge of two foreign languages,
German and one other language. Three to four years of pertinent professional
experience; ability to evaluate color images for accuracy in representing works
of art. Understanding of photography and personal computers necessary.
