We are involved in a number of collaborations here at The Tech, but here
is one example that speaks to your plea.

Last year, we found (to our horror) that both The Tech and the Chamber of
Commerce had scheduled our big, annual fundraisers on the same day! We do
an awards dinner and the Chamber was planning to bring General Colin
Powell to San Jose. Rather than compete, we joined forces to produce the
largest fundraiser either organization had ever had, raising more money
than either institution could have achieved alone. Through this
partnership we both reached new constituents and produced an event that
is still remembered six months later. Already, we are working together to
produce this year's fundraiser - but this time, we planned it that way
from the beginning.
