>>MARAC MEETING SCHOLARSHIP

>>The Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC) offers two
scholarships of $300.00 each for individuals to attend its semiannual
meetings. Scholarship funds may be used for conference registration,
workshops, conference meals and travel expenses. Persons meeting the
criteria outlined below are encouraged to apply for funding for the Fall
1997 meeting to be held in Wilmington, DE from November 6-8, 1997.

>>Applicants must:

>>1. Be a dues paying member of MARAC and a member of a MARAC state caucus.
>>
>>2. Be a new member of MARAC with a membership of less than two years
duration at the time of application, OR
>>
>>3. Be a new employee of less than two years in an archival or archives
related field or be currently enrolled as a graduate student in history or
a related field, library science or archival administration, having taken
at least three credit hours in archival studies, by the application
deadline. Full and part time students will be considered.

>>4. Not have received any MARAC scholarship previous to this application.

>>5. Be from an institution (if employed) that is unable to provide
conference expenses.

>>TO APPLY, submit a current resume and a letter in which you outline your
compliance with the qualifications, indicate the benefit you expect to
receive from the scholarship, list the name, address and phone number of
your immediate supervisor or graduate advisor, and include a statement (if
employed) explaining your institution's inablility to provide conference

>>MODERN ARCHIVES INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP

>>The Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC) has instituted a
scholarship program to provide a scholarship of $525 to cover tuition for
an individual to attend the Modern Archives Institute. This scholarship is
named in honor of MARAC member Leonard Rapport and is known as the Leonard
Rapport Modern Archives Institute Scholarship.

>>To qualify for this program an individual must meet the following criteria:

>>1. Be a new member in good standing of MARAC, with a membership of less
than three years duration at the time of the application, and a member of a
State Caucus.

>>2. Be a new employee of at least one and no more than five years in an
archival or archives-related field at the time of the application.

>>3. Not have received any MARAC scholarships prior to this award.

>>TO APPLY, applicants should submit a current resume; a letter outlining

perceived benefit of attending the Institute; and two letters of
recommendation from persons having definite knowledge of the applicant's
