There is an ornamental lake in front of our museum in which there is a
sculpture. The sculpture is raised out of the lake on a stainless steel pole
and the sculpture itself is made of aluminum, stainless steel, and
gold-leaf. It was installed in 1991. Since it has been outdoors for 6 years
now (in Alabama) and is also a popular perch for the local herons and other
waterbirds, it is in need of a cleaning and we are trying to establish a
program of regular maintenance/conservation from here on. Could anyone on
the list recommend a good source for information on how to care for a
sculpture like this over time and in such an environment? Thank you for your
help.
