INSTITUTIONS"
The 1997 Australian Museums Shops Association Conference will be held in
Melbourne, Victoria on 5th and 6th August at the Meridien at Rialto.
The theme of the conference is to explore ways in which shop managers
can raise their profile within institutions and thereby improve the
performance of their shops.
The conference will be opened by Mr Peter Hiscock, Director, Sovereign
Hill Museum and member of the Museums Board of Victoria.
Keynote speaker: Professor Bob Montgomery on "Managing Yourself:
Coping with Stress at work".
Other speakers and sessions:
Ms Gaye Hamilton, Director, Scienceworks & NASMA on "Managing Your
Staff".
Ms Maria Berry, Commercial Manager, Museum of Victoria on "Business
Plans"
Mr Nick Malaxos, Administrative Manager, Historic Trust of NSW on
"Managing Upwards"
Mr John Arthur, Safety & Security Manager, Victorian Arts Centre, on
"Store Security"
Ms Lynne Rahill, Program Co-ordinator, VAC on "Networking within your
organization"
Ms Marita Madden, Retail Manager, VAC on "Building better buyer/supplier
relationships"
The conference will include sessions for like-minded groups and on
museum trends and related merchandising strategies.
