I hate to use the dreaded L word but this is a case where a few thousand
dollars spend on a lawyer or other insurance professional might pay off.
A professional can negotiate on an equal basis  with the compay.  This
kind of like the "after the horse is out of the barn" but in the future
there are policies that are written with your concerns in mind.
