(Excellent opportunity to gain experience in working with
middle school and high school students)

DATES NEEDED:  May 1 thru June 3--as shown below for training dates
              June 4 thru August 8--supervision of students during work shifts

COMPENSATION:  $500.00 stipend

Responsibilities:
*Attend Junior Docent training sessions on following dates (6:30-8:30 p.m.):

May 1   Junior Docent role in Museum

May 6   Session 2--Communication Skills
                              Working with Visitors

May 8   Session 3--Introduction to mineral cart

May 13  Session 4--Practice at mineral cart

May 15  Session 5--Introduction to bat cart

May 20  Session 6-Practice at bat cart

May 22  Session 7--Introduction to dinosaur cart

May 27  Session 8--Practice at dinosaur cart

May 29  Session 9--Introduction to sea tank

June 3  Session 10--Practice at sea tank

*Be available to supervise junior docents during part of each work shift--a
possible work schedule might be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; or it may vary from day
to day, to accommodate an individual's schedule and still allow covering
most shifts daily
Work shifts for junior docents are as follows:          9:30-12:00 a.m.
                                                12:00-2:30 p.m.
                                                  2:30-5:00 p.m.
Supervision during work shifts entails checking the sign-in sheets to see
what coverage there is, walking through the stations and observing the
students at work, and problem-solving any situations that may arise.

*Administrative duties regarding the junior docents:
Assist with making name badges for new students
Keep attendance records
Check sign-in sheets
Send out flyers for field trips ("dinosaur dig," bat flight, fossil hunting)
Maintain a log of observations on each student (optional idea)
