I don't know about college and university studio art programs, but there
is a school of Japanese arts in the San Francisco Bay area, including
visual art, theatre and dance. Some of the teachers from that school
were in residence at my college a few years ago. Unfortunately I can't
remember the name of the school. I want to say it's in Oakland but I'm
not sure. Maybe a Bay Area resident can help.
