CURATOR OF COLLECTIONS. Des Plaines, Illinois (approximately fifteen
miles north of Chicago.) The Des Plaines Historical Society seeks an
energetic, organized self-starter to manage three dimensional
collection of approximately 7,000 items including storage and
conservation concerns on-site as well as at off-site storage facility,
maintenance of collections management database (SNAP!), and coordinate
work of collections volunteers. Curator will also work closely with
Registrar to assure accurate and expedient processing of artifacts.
The qualified candidate will have archives experience to assist
Archives Coordinator with major rehousing and processing of the
30,000+ pieces in the archives and additional 6,000 photographs.
Duties will include working as part of exhibit team, some educational
programming, and participation in special events. QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Museum Studies or Historical Administration
preferred, 1-2 years experience in collections management, general
museum operations. Previous work with archival materials a plus.
Ability to interact with volunteers and staff, and function as part of
a team. SALARY: $21,000, annually, benefits. APPLICATION PROCESS: Send
