This quote is taken from an article in today's (2/18/97) New York Times by
Lisa W. Foderaro on museum retailing. The term "museumy" triggered thoughts
of an mirror museum world existing in parallel to the "real" one and I
wonder whether these objects could someday be collected by museums as
artifacts of the culture?

"The merchandise is a mix of products that the Museum Company
buys from museums through licensing agreements and items that
are simply "museumy," said William P. Edwards, vice chairman
of the
Museum Company in Fairfield, N.J., and a former deputy
director of
profit-making business activities at the Modern. "
