In an article in the Textile Conservation Newsletter, Fall 1995
(re-printed from ACTS FACTS by Monona Rossol), naphthalene and
paradichlorobenzene are discussed. PDB's primary effects are on the
respiratory system and liver and seem to rate as a more serious carcinogen
than naphthalene. This article identifies naphthalene and not PDB as a
risk to people with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiencies because
it can cause severe anemia.

I would suggest that you contact Monona Rossol for more information at:
Arts, Crafts & Theater Safety, 181 Thompson St. #23, New York, NY
10012-2586.
