POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:  Executive Director

JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for the overall operation and management of the Cedar
Falls Historical Society, its facilities, and programs in conformance with
Society's mission and objectives.

REPORTS TO:   Board of Directors of Society

TERMS:   Initial Appointment:  Twelve month  - Salary Range:  $25,000-$35,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and direct maintenance of the five museum buildings
Provide leadership and creativity in initiating programs to meet Society's
mission.
Coordinate and assist in all activities of the various Society councils and
committees as well as subgroups and volunteers.
Supervise and evaluate all employees of the Society.
Assist in preparation of Society's annual budget and provide regular financial
status information to the Board.
Seek funds for the Society through fund raising projects, individual donations,
grants, and other sources.
Serve as the representative and spokesperson of the Society.
Maintain communications with other public and private organizations throughout
the metro area to further the mission statement of the Society.
Recruit volunteers to meet the needs of the Society.
Develop programs to maintain a positive and constructive relationship with all
volunteers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelors degree is required with an emphasis in history, business, or
related fields.  Experience as either an intern or volunteer in museum related
activities is greatly valued.  Needs to be knowledgeable about computer and
telecommunications technologies.

Greetings Neighbors,
        I posted this last night, but realized today that the actual position
title was not included with the listing. So here it is again with the
correction. The Society has five museum sites at this time which include an Ice
House Museum, an art deco house, an Victorian House with modern carriage house
gallery addition, a one-room schoolhouse, and a 1920's filling station.
        The museums are run with a combination of full and part time staff,
along with the aid of an approximate 150 volunteers. The organization is
composed of around 500 members and has an operating budget of around $100,000.
