The list of 275 military museums in the UK has been revised again. It
can be accessed at this URL:

http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists-f-j/history-sources/files/mil-museums.html

This index page gives HTML links to the full list (123 KB file) and to
10 sub-sections of the list, each one covering a specific area of
Britain, and the Introduction.

Because of an obscure bug, 3 of these sub-sections may be returned
with the formatting destroyed when accessed through the index page
with some web browsers but not others (Netscape 2 seems to work OK).
If you have problems with your browser, then the alternatives are:

1. Access the sub-section files directly: they are in the same
directory as the HTML index page, and are named:
m_intro.mil (the Introduction), n_london.mil (museums in London)
  o_se-eng.mil (south-east England), p_s-engl.mil (southern England)
q_c-engl.mil (central England, r_n-engl.mil (northern England)
s_wales.mil (Welsh museums), t_scot.mil (Scottish museums)
  u_n-irel.mil (Northern Ireland), v_isles.mil (museums on off-shore
  islands).
All files are returned correctly when accessed direct, using any
browser.

2. Retrieve files by anonymous ftp, from:

        ftp ftp.mailbase.ac.uk
        in directory: /pub/lists-f-j/history-sources/files

where the regional sub-section files are named as above, and the whole
list is in file: military-museums.

Note: the Mailbase file server is frequently locked for file
maintenance, uploading, etc. If you get an "Access Denied" message,
please try again later.

My thanks again to Dr Glen Segell of the Dept of War Studies, Kings
College London, for kindly arranging for these files to be held in his
space on the Mailbase fileserver. Please advise me of any errors or
omissions regarding this list.
