1997 EXHIBITIONS SUMMER ASSISTANT
Supervisor: Director, Exhibitions
Full-time, temporary for 12 weeks beginning in May/June 1997
Hourly rate: $6.70
Nature of work
The exhibitions summer assistantship offers hands-on experience and an
opportunity to develop exhibit production, design, evaluation, maintenance,
and installation skills while working at IHS.
Duties
Duties include exhibit design and production (cutting, pasting, dry mounting
and assembly of materials), installation, maintenance, and preparation.
Some packing, lifting, and moving of materials will be involved. Some
general office help is expected.
Qualifications
Experience in exhibit production, fine arts, graphic design, and computer
technology (Macintosh). Museum studies and photography background are
pluses. Ability to carry out routine and detailed work in a timely and
accurate manner. You will be called upon to work both with supervision and
independently, to problem solve, and to think creatively. Preferably,
candidates will have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable
vehicle.
