Technical Assistant Scholarships

A Grant Opportunity for Small Museums supported by the Institute of
Museum Services

The Midwest Museums Conference invites you to apply for support for
your staff or volunteers to participate in training courses offered by the
Campbell Center. Thanks to a grant received from the Institute of
Museum Services, MMC will be able to offer scholarships for staff
development to MMC institutional members with operating budgets of
under $250,000 per year.

Scholarships will be available for any of the collections care or
architectural preservation courses offered by the Center. Scholarships
will cover $500 of the course fee for 4-5 day courses with an additional
stipend of $100 to offset travel costs. Scholarships of $800 plus $200
for travel are available for the four week Core Curriculum.

To receive a grant, your museum must be an institutional member of the
Midwest Museums Conference, and have an operating budget under
$250,000. Applications must be received by March 15 and notification of
awards will be made on April 1.

If you receive a grant:

You will need to complete the training by October, 1997.

You will need to submit a final report and evaluation of training
to MMC by December, 1997.

The following information explains how to apply for this financial support.
If you have questions, please call MMC at 314-454-3110 or Campbell
Center at 815-244-1173.

To apply for a scholarship follow these steps:

Step One: Decide which aspect of you museum#s operations
would benefit most from training: collections care or building
preservation.

Step Two: Decide who is the most appropriate person to
receive the training (paid staff or volunteer)

Step Three: Complete the two page application form and return
to MMC with a letter from you Director (or other authorizing
individual) indication institutional commitment to the project for
which training is received.
